Anne Partanen works as a Transportation Manager in Kuopio–Joensuu area. Customers are at the heart of her work, and she works with them to create new solutions to further improve services. For example, when a transportation order process and practicalities are developed, the customer’s needs and expectations must first be considered, and the linkages to production processes and IT systems also need to be understood.
The coordination of different perspectives is interesting, but also challenging, Anne says. Breaking down a big challenge into smaller elements makes it possible to get to the heart of a problem and find solutions.
Anne has had a long career with Posti and has been able to develop her skills in various positions. She is a Logistical Engineer by education and is also studying towards a bachelor’s degree.
"I first joined Posti in 1994 on an internship as a Logistics Technician in Iisalmi. Posti had major transportation operations in the area, and so I headed there to ask for the internship”, Anne recalls.
After the internship and a few summers in delivery work in the Iisalmi and Kuopio areas, Anne completed her studies and took up the leadership of a transportation team in Iisalmi. Her path continued later to a position as a Driver in Kuopio, from where she progressed to organiser of the driving office and later to Transportation Manager. The next step was a position as Planner in the regional organisation, where Anne worked for about 10 years. In 2015, Anne took up her current role as a Transportation Manager.
Continuous Development and Learning
The best thing about Anne’s career, she says, has been the opportunity for continuous development and learning. The tasks have also been diverse over the years.
Working with Posti has also given here a clear perspective on the scope and impact of the company’s activities. Posti is Finland’s largest logistics company, with the most comprehensive transportation network in Finland. This means that goods are on the move 24/7, and Posti is present throughout the country.
“Working here gives a broad view of the whole society and the role of Posti”, Anne says.
Anne is also pleased with her work community. Cooperation across the organisation works smoothly, and Anne’s work involves a lot of interaction with processes, sales, business and production, for example. Work at Posti has also allowed Anne to get to know great people.
“It’s great to work in a large company that is a pioneer in its industry. Here we are always investing in development, quality and green values, which are important to me”.
